And the Winners Are...

The panel of judges and the three winning teamsThe panel of judges and the three winning teamsVodafone's xone R&D incubator and AI software company Expertmaker have announced the winners of their AI Hackathon, which took place last weekend. A total of ten AI-integrated apps were created by teams from Fortune 500 and local Silicon Valley companies, and a panel of judges picked three winners.

First place was awarded to Politicart, an app which uses text classification and recommendations to gain political insights into users' shopping decisions. In second place was BrainyCraig, an app designed to complement Craigslist, which maps concepts to products using a dynamic learning solution - meaning users can locate relevant products without needing to know the exact wording used in an advertisement.

Third place was given to Disaster Expert, a news app for urgent disaster updates and notifications, that uses advanced filtering and deduplication of messages, as well as targeting by location and particular personal interest.

“As an entrepreneur myself, it's exciting to be able to provide other entrepreneurs with an opportunity to bring their ideas to life,” says head of Vodafone xone, Fay Arjomandi. “At the same time, events like these help us find the most promising technology to enhance our own future mobility solutions.”
