Could O2 Delay Everything Everywhere 4G Roll-out?
Everything Everywhere's roll-out of 4G services, currently scheduled to begin in September, may undergo a delay – courtesy of O2.
O2 has submitted a written objection to Ofcom over its decision earlier this month, to enable Everything Everywhere to use its existing spectrum to launch 4G services from its Orange and T-Mobile brands a year before its rivals had the chance.
O2 is currently staying quiet on the matter, but it seems that legal action could follow if Ofcom doesn't respond satisfactorily.
The operator was clearly unhappy with the decision at the time, releasing a statement which read: “We are hugely disappointed with today’s announcement, which will mean the majority of consumers will be excluded from the first wave of digital services. This decision undermines the competitive environment for 4G in the UK.”
