Kindle and BlackBerry More Popular than iPhone?

The Kindle and BlackBerry are more popular in the UK than the iPhone 4S - at least, in search terms. Based on the 13m searches conducted online for consumer electronics in the UK throughout February, digital marketing agency Greenlight's latest Brown Goods Sector Report has named Amazon's eReader as the most searched-for consumer electronics term, attracting 823,000 queries. BlackBerry came in second place, with 673,000 - surprising, given RIM's recently announced losses.

The 368,000 searches for the 4S, meanwhile, were outstripped by 450,000 queries attracted by Apple's currently non-existent iPhone 5.

Searches related to mobile phones and accessories made up a 26 per cent share of the searches. Within this area, operators O2 and Vodafone each achieved a 34 per cent share of visibility in natural search, achieved through their high ranking in the search engine results pages for high-volume search terms ‘iPhone 4’ and ‘Blackberry’, respectively.
